Getting hooked on Baking

I baked again today. Well it's my baby cousin's birthday so I decided to bake her something... As if I'm doing the batter by scratch. I keep on using Betty Crocker Super Moist cake mix ( my moms sends us boxes of those). This time instead of using the Devil's cake mix, I used this one...

Ingredients:

1. (1) pack Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix - White

2. 1 1/4 cup water

3. 1/2 cup oil

4. 3 eggs

Steps:

1. Pre- heat oven at 325 degress for non stick pan

2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl

3. Using a mixer, mix all the ingredients until there are no more lumps or when the batter is throughly mixed.

It should look something like this...

4. Once it's done, transfer the mixture into a baking pan. In my case I used Baker's Secret Flexible Silicon Bakeware 9- inch round cake pan. It's more convenient for me since it's "rubbery".

I then sprayed the insides of the cake pan with Pam Vegetable Oil spray to prevent the cake mix from sticking. Although the pan is already a non-stick pan, I still sprayed it just in case.

5. Since the oven has already been preheated, place the cake pan and let it bake.

I don't usually follow the exact baking time. I really on the "toothpick test". So when nothing or just a few crumbs stick to the toothpick, it means the cake's ready to go.

My uncle ( who used to work at a cake shop as a cake decorator) made the icing as I still don't know how.

Here's the finished product...

The candy sprinkle is mostly orange & violet since these are the Halloween candy sprinkle that we have...

Carmex Lip Balm

I have really ugly, hard (& dark) lips. As far as I can remember I've always had dark and chapped lips, and to add insult to injury, I smoke alot. The only color of lipstick that would actually cover the "darkness" are those really Red ones which I am not fond of wearing.

In college, my friends found a way to soften the hands and feet by using petroleum jelly so I thought this would work on my lips too, so I tried it. Well it did the trick, but it felt "yucky" on my lips. Plus I usually put it before going to sleep so most of the time it sticks on my pillow.  So I gave it up. Then I read from a tweet of one of the local celebrtities that  she's using Carmex lip balm and mind you her lips are really nice. So I wanted to try it too but didn't know where to buy it and then the idea slipped out out of "consciousness" again until I decided to clean out my room and found 2 Carmex lip balms my mom sent.

At first I thought it was an ointment for sore or insect bites but when I googled it i found out this was the one I wanted. So right now it's what I'm using... Been using it for just 3 days though and it doesn't feel super sticky on my lips and when you first apply it, it's somewhat "cool".

[Recipe] My own version of the Omurice

Been meaning to try cooking this one for a long time, so I tried to cook it today.

I searched the net for the easiest recipe, and I found it on THIS SITE.

I kinda tweaked the ingredients a bit. You might notice it’s a bit too much. Well I was thinking of cooking for 6 kids and a few adults.

Ingredients:

2 small onions

1 small can button mushroom - cut into smaller pieces

1 chicken breast - boiled & then flaked

4 eggs

5 cups of rice

Ketchup

Salt & pepper to taste

STEPS:

1. Saute onion on hot pan with cooking oil

2. Add flaked chicken breast

3. Add sliced mushrooms

4. Add rice

5. Add salt and pepper to taste

6. Add ketchup - just enough to color the rice

7. Set rice aside

8. Beat eggs in bowl and add salt to taste

9. Heat smaller frying pan and cook eggs

10. Place cooked egg over rice

11. “decorate” with ketchup

Here’s my finished product… The egg should actually cover the rice, but I like rice so I got a lot…

First Time Baker

Crossposting some of my tumblr posts...

I baked for the first time…

It wasn’t totally from scratch, I used Betty Crocker cake mix.

I added Nutella to the mixture before baking it. Got the idea from a high school classmate’s blog. Check it here.

The result was somewhat a failure since I ran out of gas in the middle of baking. But I guess it still tasted good since it was gone in minutes…

Here’s the finished product…
